Globe completed this intricate Access Scaffold and Temporary Roof within the grounds of the Historic Lambeth Palace – official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Working on this Grade 1 listed building provided a number of challenges, not least of which was ensuring the structure was fully self-supporting to prevent any damage to the Great Hall below. The clients works also required access to the main cupola and this was achieved by spanning the roof with beams and hanging the access scaffold from these. Special care had to be taken when working on the buttresses to the south elevation as these had to be interlaced between the boughs of one of the oldest Fig Trees in the UK and of significant historic importance, especially to the Archbishop!
